94/100 Editors Choice Riesling Grand Cru HENGST 2003 A standout in the Ehrhart range, the nose explodes with lime and petrol. Citrus fruits intense on the palate, interwoven with lower mineral tones that linger nicely on the long finish. A real stunner.
92/100 Riesling Grand Cru SCHLOSSBERG 2006 The very reliable but little-known house of Ehrhart turns in a true stunner with this Riesling from Schlossberg vineyard. Subtle but gorgeously complex notes of honey and orange peel serve as the opening act. The off-dry palate displays intense notes of ginger and candied fruit. This wine is both powerful and pure.
91/100 Riesling Réserve Lieu-dit Herrenweg 2006 A bouquet of summer desserts - strawberry soup, apricot pie and lemon pie – pull you into the glass. Although not quite as nuanced, the palate delivers enticing apricot and wet stone notes. The unctuous palate and noticeable residual sugar will partner well fish is an Asian-fusion preparation.
90/100 Pinot Gris Lieu-dit Rotenberg 2006 Honey and graham cracker aromas introduce this clove-infused white. The gold color promises a concentrated wine and the unctuous palate duly delivers. Fresh acidity on the finish saves it from flabbiness. Drink now or hold several years for added complexity.
89/100 Pinot Gris Lieu-dit Im Berg 2006 The multidimensional, hedonistic nose of honey and exotic spices promises big things to come. The palate could have a bit more complexity but overall we have few complaints. A crisp finish keeps the slight residual sugar from seeming cloying.
89/100 Riesling Vieilles Vignes 2006 Bready aromas from sur-lie aging are layered with notes of summer desserts – strawberry – rhubarb crumble, peach compote and lemon-meringue pie. A slight sweetness adds to the hedonistic impression. The lingering finish is hunger-inspiring.
89/100 Riesling Vieilles Vignes 2004 Delivers strawberries, resin and golden raisins upfront while exotic spices dominate the palate. Petroleum notes on the finish indicate that it has already reached maturity though the fresh acidity will allow it to improve for a few more years in bottle.
